Active participation
If you want to collaborate with the network, far beyond just using it, you can do it in several manners:
| Coverage tests |
|
If you want to collaborate doing coverage tests in you neighborhood, you can contact with us. Hey!, don’t you think it’s very difficult, you can offer yourself for helping one person that has already don it, and soon you will have learned. In order to give you an idea we write here, the steps to follow in the router to check whether there is coverage or not: 1. First you have to enter the configuration page writing in a web browser, the router IP. The default IP is 192.168.1.1. If it is another it must have been annotated somewhere by whoever has configured it for you. 2. Afterwards you write the password, that must also have been annotated by whoever has configured it. The username is left blank. 3. In the section 'wireless' -> 'advanced settings' you must check that the antenna that appears as predetermined is the same one we are going to use for the test. In the sections 'tx antenna' and 'rx antenna' Between 'left' and 'right' you must choose the correct option. 4. Once checked point 3 go to 'status' which is on the right side of the upper menu. 5. Once in ‘status’ select 'wireless' 6. Once in 'wireless' you must annotate what appears on the categories 'rate' and 'ap signal' which are part of the content. If there is no coverage the category 'ap signal' will not appear. 7. In case you don’t have coverage at once, you can use the button 'survey' to search networks and observe if in one of the trials appears a node named 'xsf-coop'. By the way, at this moment sometimes it hangs up and it is necessary to disconnect it and connect it again to the equipment. The image below corresponds to steps 4 to 6. You must bear in mind that the measure units are dBm, which means for example that -10dBm is more potent than -60dBm. (image not ready yet) |
